Spelman and Morehouse in the Chi
SpelHouse Chicago is the partnership between the Morehouse College and Spelman College alumni associations in the Chicago area. We exist to bring the family together — and to turn every gathering into support for the next class.
What “SpelHouse” means
Sister schools, shared street
Spelman College (founded 1881) and Morehouse College (founded 1867) sit across from each other in Atlanta’s West End. Generations of Spelman women and Morehouse men have studied, organized, dated, married, and built together — which is why alumni simply say SpelHouse.
In Chicago, that bond is organized. Morehouse Chicago and the Chicago Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College each run their own membership, scholarships, and programs. SpelHouse Chicago is the joint committee that plans the events both houses show up for, sells the tickets and the merch, and keeps the calendar in one place.
Proceeds from SpelHouse Chicago events and merch support the chapters’ scholarship work for Chicagoland students headed to Spelman and Morehouse.

Our chapters
Membership lives with your house
SpelHouse Chicago does not collect dues. Join your chapter to vote, serve, and get member pricing on events.
Morehouse Chicago
“We connect Morehouse men across Chicago through scholarships, mentorship, and year-round events.” Annual dues are $100 and support scholarships, events, and chapter work.
NAASC Chicago Chapter
The Chicago Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College unites and promotes fellowship among Spelman alumnae in Chicagoland, encourages young women to attend Spelman, and provides scholarship support to Chicagoland students at Spelman.
